Do you need a holiday drink recipe for a party you’re hosting with a few friends this coming weekend? A fun beverage to celebrate the end of the semester with your roommate? Trying to find a way to get rid of the endless amount of cranberries in your fridge (I’m guilty)? Look no further than this cranberry rum punch. I will let it speak for itself, because it was really good.
As an FYI to the world of cranberry lovers, don’t forget to stock up on these tart berries now. They usually get pulled from shelves right after Christmas because they don’t understand that weirdos still enjoy them outside of the Thanksgiving to Christmas window. I have some in my freezer already to make more of my cran recipes early next year.
Cranberry Rum Punch (per person recipe)
- 1 oz cranberry syrup (recipe below)
- 1 oz dark rum
- Squeeze of lemon juice
- Squeeze of lime juice
- 3 oz club soda
- Lime, lemon slices and cranberries to garnish
To make cranberry syrup, boil a half cup of water with a half cup of sugar and a generous 1/4 to 1/2 c of cranberries. This will serve as the simple syrup base of our drink. Once the cranberries have popped and the sugar is incorporated, use a spoon to smash more flavor out of the cranberries.
Strain the smashed cranberries out of the syrup and save them for another baking adventure. Let it chill and in the meantime, cut a lemon and lime slice for each glass.
Into a glass, position a slice of lemon and lime and a few whole cranberries. Add one ounce of cranberry syrup, one ounce of rum, and a squeeze of both lemon and lime juice. Top with 3 ounces of club soda for some fizzy fun.
