This month, I am participating in the Get Movin’ Colorado challenge- a challenge to Colorado residents to move for 30 minutes for the full 30 days in May. I am excited to be working with them on some blog posts in the works, and also excited to push myself to get outside on days when I am not as energized. First, I want to tell you guys a bit more about where I am in terms of exercise.
I have always been a huge fan of group fitness classes, and moving to Colorado got me reinvigorated to plan my work hours around the fitness schedule at the gym I go to. For better or for worse, I would go to those classes religiously to see my Zumba ladies or my favorite Step & Sculpt teacher. As the schedule shifted around and my favorite Zumba teacher left, I was showing up fewer times per week and needed to figure out a way to stay active while still feeling the upbeat energy that I got from group fitness playlists and company.
I have always found things like hiking, walking outside, and just recently- riding a bike- to be more fun than working out on a treadmill. But truthfully, gyms exist for a reason, and I just hadn’t found my workout machine vibe. I am increasingly using the treadmill, elliptical, and other equipment at the gym that I felt uncomfortable with before. Having never been a runner, I am that awesome person sweating up a storm by power walking. And I am enjoying it thanks to a newfound love of tunes. I recently shared my sweaty selfie on Twitter the other day for the Colorado Get Movin’ Challenge, and the happy look on my face was after this treadmill workout playlist for power walking.
Ready to download some tunes and work up a sweat? I am sharing some of my recent favorite workout music in a treadmill workout below – with recommended speeds for those of you who are at my same fitness level. If you’re a runner, bump it up and find what treadmill speed works for you. Or take this playlist and adapt it to your favorite circuit workout outside. If nothing else, definitely listen to some of these songs to get you motivated to get outside – 30 minutes everyday is the best thing that you could possibly do for yourself, and I am slowly learning how to honor my body and give it the booty shaking workout it deserves.
I would love to hear some feedback from this post if you try the workout or want to hear more about my current fitness goals. While these blog started from my passion for cooking and sharing recipes, I am a big fan of the healthy living community that I have made and want to share more about me around here.
